The Master Cleanse

  • September 13, 2018September 10, 2018

The master cleanse is traditionally a ten day cleanse that consists of no solid food and only one drink that you consume for those ten days while doing a salt water flush each morning.

The Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp pure GRADE B maple syrup
  • 1/10 tsp cayenne pepper (powder)
  • 8 oz warm water (preferably purified/spring/distilled)
Mix lemon juice, water, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup

These ingredients are best found in health food stores, I recommend the ingredients being nonGMO and organic because this will be the only thing sitting in your stomach. The lesser the pesticides and basically crap, the better because you will already feel that way once you start.
These recipe make one serving,
What I did was multiply this recipe by however many drinks I wanted to consume that day and make it all at once fresh each morning after drinking my salt water. When I did this cleanse I was quite dumb and cheap so I did not make very many servings, this is not a good idea because I was not only starving myself even more but also incredibly dehydrated each day due to the salt water.
But I must say, I loved this drink! It’s basically a spicy lemonade, it is so yummy!

Salt Water Flush

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons (not tablespoons) non-iodized salt
  • 1 quart (yes, one full quart) lukewarm water

This must be taken on an empty stomach or it will not work. So each morning, wake up and drink your salt water. Trust me, after day three or four it is not that bad and breathe when you drink the water, it will help it go down and make you feel like bursting a bit less after.
ALSO, you do not have to chug the water but you must drink it in one sitting, basically in less than 5 minutes try to get it down.

The salt water flush is to help flush everything out of your system. Your body cannot process the salt water which is why it goes straight through. It is like clockwork after drinking it, give it about 15-20 minutes and you will understand what I am talking about. The longer you wait before using the restroom the better.

Tea

You can also drink peppermint tea throughout the days to assist in any nausea you experience. The mint helps to sooth your stomach.

You can do it!

Tell yourself you can do it and you can! Was it easy? Not one bit. Did it feel horrible? Yes, everyday. But was it worth it? Yes, yes, yes! One of the best decisions I have ever made was doing this cleanse. It was incredibly difficult and I was hungry every day but I also felt great and after a few days you get energy while you live on this lemonade. You will also lose a lot of weight.
When going back to eating you want to gradually introduce food because your body got used to nothing but liquid. You want to start with a couple days of strictly juice and then vegitable soup. After a few days, if you do not feel sick, reintroduce raw fruite and vegitables. It is recommended you wait at least two weeks before consuming any meat or dairy.
I personally, being the meat lover I am, at midnight after day 10 ate a bunch of chicken.
Good Luck, and enjoy the cleansed you!

Hawai‘i, The Big Island

Hawai‘i, or what we call the Big Island, for well, it being the biggest island. The big island is home to Hawai‘i’s active volcano, black sand beaches, and a whole lot of driving.
If you’re looking for some nice empty beaches, flying into Kona is a good idea. Driving north of Kona there are beautiful beaches, cool lava tubes (like seen in the image to the right), incredible snorkeling (image below), and lots and lots of lava rock.
Though if you are looking for Lava, Kona side is not where you want to be unless you want to drive two hours just to get to get to the other side of the island, then drive up the mountain.
Keep in mind, here in Hawai‘i we are home to many different environments being tropical islands. Therefore, depending on the area and side you drive, deciphers your weather and atmosphere.
Warning: the sulphate from the Vog from the lava can leave us with many side effects like headaches and allergies. I recommend remembering to bring some Advil or ibuprofen, (whatever works for you) when driving up the mountain, just in case.

Kai

The ocean surrounding the Big Island makes me thirsty for more every time I think about it. From the clarity to life to rawness of this salty H2O.
If you’re lucky, you may meet a few new friends. The honu (turtle) are beautiful and also an endangered species so make sure to not touch but to also keep your distance. The bacteria on our skin is threatening to the turtle, reef, and to most of the sea life.
On that note, our rubbish is also very delicious looking food to the honu and their friends, so please malama our aina, take care of our land by throwing away your rubbish and any other rubbish you see so it does not get to them and keeps this island and ocean as incredible as it is.

Waimea Coffee Company

For some insanely delicious and nicely done local caffeine and delicious breakfast and lunch

My obsession is their dark cortado! My friend Katherine introduced me to her sisters concoction and got me addicted!Picture

Waimea Farmers Markets

There are so many to choose from!

At the Parker School location it is bowls galore! From loaded delicious poke bowls to pitaya and acai bowls with the works! Saturday mornings at Parker school up in Waimea is the place to be. Was so excited to see the option of adding sweet potato to my bowl, so ono! There are so many venders, for someone indecisive like me, it took forever to decide what I wanted to eat! Pastry, burger, sushi, smoothie, thai food, etc etc? Was a challenge my tastebuds gladly took.

Under the Bodhi Tree

Healthy, vegan restaurant to help keep you lookin good on your vacay. Located in the Mauna Lani shopping centre. They also have delicious vegan pastries, pancakes and acai bowls for breakfast. Yummy sandwiches, salads, and soups for lunch. Their Kombucha on tap is strong and guuuudd as well, we got one of each of their flavors of the day.Picture

Kilauea Volcano

One of the most memorable and incredible moments I’ve experienced in my life. Vast array of the islands beauty. There are many trails and spots to stop on the way. Don’t forget to bring some sort of ibuprofen for the vog (volcanic ash) and sulphate. Sometimes I don’t notice it but other times the island chain is effected with allergies or some weird drowsiness. So when you get close and start breathing a lot in, you may or may not find yourself with a minor headache, but SO worth it!

Queensland Hikes

The In-Betweens

Since Australia is so large, driving from one territory to another has many cool stops on the way. Below are a few pit stops with my friend Allana in our many adventures of the in-betweens from QLD to NSW.

One of the first things I noticed about Australia is that they have so many rocks! Literally everywhere, from rugged cliffside to the white sand shorelines, but this is what has assisted in keeping Australia so new since sailors could not find a way onto the island. Goldy’s coastline may be rocky but it is also surrounded by many long, empty, white sand beaches. I recommend stepping away from crowded surfers paradise and getting in a nice surf in Currumbin or if you’re really good or want to watch the pros, head to Burleigh or Snapper. For a more relaxed stroll and swim, head ova to Nobbys or Miami. If you so happen to be interested in looking into possible colleges, there is Griffith and Bond University. I’ve attended Bond University and been to Griffith’s campus. Bond is a beautiful campus, I recommend visiting Griffith’s campus in Brisbane.

Burleigh

Burleigh Heads is a great destination for cute shops, delicious food, beach days, nice strolls, beautiful sunsets and good surf. Whether bussing or driving, everything is on the most part convenient walking distance. Insanely delicious food with captivating views.
Few great food places:
Pizza: Tom Uglys and Justin Lane
Best Vegetarian I’ve ever had: Govindas
Fancy Dinner: Fish Heads or Rick Shores
Brekky and Coffee: Burleigh Social
Coffee on the go: Nook Espresso Bar

Post surf:
The Salt Mill for Acai bowls! They also serve coffee, juices, and fresh pastries
If you’re an acai bowl lover like I am, Down 2 Earth organics has by far my favourite acai bowls on the Gold Coast.

Keep in mind it is a very popular spot so go early or on a weekday if you’re looking for a good seat because the atmosphere is too lovely to take to go.

Mermaid Beach Cafes:
Bam Bam Bakehouse
The Yard Cafe

Blackboard Cafe

It’s an addiction.
Best coffee
Best chais
Best chips
Best muesli
Best baked goods
This place was a delicious problem I lived too close to. Don’t get me started on the customer service, the employees are simply delightful! With their bubbly, real, friendly attitude making your blackboard experience more lovely.
If you’re in Robina looking for a nice cafe, you cannot go wrong heading to blackboard. You could even head to their take away bar, grab a pastry and coffee to go and walk along lake side right across the street. So good, it’s bad!
